A MESSAGE FROM THE MASTER
Greetings from Wayzata Lodge #205
Brothers,
It's hard to believe that we are already two stated meetings into the 2010. The year is moving by very quickly.
January
January started of on New Year's Day with our very own Jr Warden, Brother Tim Jirak getting married at Harrington Mansion. Tim, it should be noted, is a very busy guy. Newly married, he's also doing a fantastic job as Jr Warden, taking on the schooling and running of our Feb 1st Degree where he'll be in the East and he's been appointed Treasurer of the Zuhrah Shrine.
At the January stated meeting there was a petition from a candidate and visit from a Brother (Joe Rose) who'd recently moved to the area from out of state. Brother Joe Rose, based on meeting us at dinner and attending the meeting decided that he wanted to transfer his membership to Wayzata!
Later in the month, Wayzata Lodge held a festive board in honor of the 251st birthday of Robert Burns. MC's by MWB Neil, we had forty four people attending including our current Grand Master, several members of Grand Lodge and MWB Andrew Rice. WB Dale gifted us with a song in response to one toast, another collected $280.00 for Haiti (matched by MMC - to be sent to their Grand Lodge) and a third included a poem read by Brother Tim Jirak - "A Red Red Rose" - during which all of the men in the group left the room and returned with roses for their dates. Several of us who weren't accompanied by our significant others for the evening decided to bestow our flowers on Tim - which he in turn took home to his new bride. Brother Joe Rose was in attendance with his wife who was very pregnant. It was his birthday that night, and her getting dressed up, coming to the dinner and doing all the standing with toasts was a real gift to him.
February
Our February stated meeting was busy.
We had a visit from our Grand Lodge Education Officer Ed Halpus who gave a talk on WB George Washington, his family and legacy. WB Halpus drove for over an hour to join us, he shared that the last time he'd been to Wayzata Lodge was when MWB Neil Neddermeyer was Grand Master and we'd hosted a reception for him. Additionally we had two votes: Eric Berg was elected by the members of the Lodge to receive degrees and Brother Joe Rose was elected to become a member of Wayzata Lodge (petition submitted) once his demit from his prior lodge was completed. Brother Rose was unable to attend as his wife had given birth to a new baby girl. Earlier in the evening two more candidates visited, completed a petition and we had the first reading. March we'll be hearing the results of the investigations and voting on them.
March Stated Meeting
1st Degree
We will be holding a 1st Degree with (if things go as planned) three new brothers at our March Stated meeting on Wednesday March 3rd. Dinner at 6:30PM, Stated Meeting Starting Promptly at 7:30PM.
Meals at the Lodge: Both the January and February stated meetings were accompanied by fantastic meals prepared by our Jr Warden - Tim Jirak and our two Stewards.I'd like to give a very special thanks to them; as Master - not having to worry about refreshment makes my job much easier.
Real Housewives of Wayzata Masons
As many of you know, the wives and significant others of our Lodge Members have started meeting for dinner and cocktails on the Wednesdays of our stated meetings. We've invited them to the lodge for dinner with us but they seem to prefer their selected venues. If your wife or significant other is interested in joining them, feel free to contact Julie Neddermeyer's Secretary/ Husband Neil Neddermeyer at Neddermeyer@comcast.net.
Fraternally,
Andrew R Brennan
