Grand Master Visits Wayzata #205

On June 3rd, we had the honor of a visit by MWB Thomas G. McCarthy, Grand Master of Minnesota.

We started off the evening with a great meal arranged by Mike Stattman and Mark Bullis.

Following dinner, the Lodge held our regularly stated meeting where we handled some business as well as formally welcomed our new Master Masons who had the honor of receiving the Mason pins from the Grand Master.  When the meeting was closed, we invited all visitors into the lodge for the formal entrance of the Grand Master.  The Grand Master was accompanied by Area Deputy Lee Dorholt and District Representative Emilio Munoz as Grand Lodge Representatives, they were piped in by WB Dave Camp, PM 2005 while the By-laws were carried in by WB Henry Lofquist, who was Master of Wayzata in the 1963.

We were then privileged to have Miss Minnesota Jobs Daughter Shannon and the Jobbies from Robbinsdale Bethel #39 perform the Living Cross.  Bethel Guardian Cynthia McDonald explained the symbolism.  Many members felt that this was the highlight of the night!

We chose this night to present 40, 50, and 60 year pins to Richard Johnson (40), WB Jerry Johnson (50), Kenneth Orcutt (50), and John Ulku (60).  It was wonderful to see these long time members along with their families.

A new Wayzata award was initiated this year called the Beehive Award.  It is given to members who are not currently line officers who put in extra time at the lodge over an extended period of time.  The charter members are Mike Stattman, WB Vern Peterson, WB Mark Eilers,

WB Marv Schendel, and Leonard Andrews.

It was also announced that later this year, Leonard Andrews will receive the highest award a lodge can give – The Hiram Award.  We thank Lenny for all the effort he has put into this lodge.  We are truly fortunate to have Lenny as both a brother and a member of our lodge.

Thanks, again to everyone for making this event so special.
